Calgary Calgary has undertaken a number of actions to prepare for sustainable meetings and incentives, including: • Coordinating green familiarization tours for meeting and incentive planners. • More than 50% of Calgary hotels are consistently providing basic green meeting practices. Tourism Calgary currently lists Hotel Association of Canada Green Key ratings in the Calgary Visitor’s Guide, including credentials for 31 ‘green’ certified hotels and 11 four-key properties. • Providing information on “Green Calgary” in the destination Visitor’s Guide, including natural attractions, parks and gardens. • The Telus Convention Centre and Stampede venues both exhibit leadership level sustainable practices. Unique services at these facilities include green energy options and comprehensive recycling programs. • Calgary’s focus on renewable energy programs for residence and business is a unique advantage. Municipal commitment is strong and out-of-the-ordinary. The fact both major meeting venues source a percentage of renewable energy is unique, as is their ability to offer add-on green power purchase programs for planners. |
