Pittsburgh's David H. Lawrence Convention Center was the first new build convention facility in the US to be awarded US Green Building Council Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED). The Center:
Practices state-of-the-art water and energy management, including a grey-water reclamation plant, fresh air ventilation and day lighting features.
Operates a "Buy Fresh, Buy Local" kitchen which also grows vegetables and herbs on the Center's rooftop terrace.
Provides environmental tips and services to meeting planners, including complimentary water cambros instead of bottled water.
Uses low VOC paints and Green Seal certified cleaning products for building maintenance.
Over 75% of Pittsburgh's convention hotels recycle and provide a towel and sheet reuse program.
